Earlier today, a crash involving two vehicles killed one and injured three others.
Troopers responded to the crash around 9:30 am, which occurred on LA Hwy 8 on the Boyce Bridge. The crash involved a 2003 Chevrolet van, driven by Anthony K. Ammons (W/M 46 yrs) of Pineville, LA and a 1998 Ford pickup, driven by Jason H. Sheppard (W/M 36 yrs) of Colfax, LA. The Chevrolet was east bound on LA Hwy 8 and the Ford was west bound on LA Hwy 8. Prior to the crash between these two vehicles the Chevrolet had crossed the centerline and collided with the concrete bridge railing located on the west bound shoulder. Sheppard was wearing his seatbelt and received minor injuries. He was transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center for treatment. His only two passengers, identified as Lydia Sheppard (34 yrs) of Colfax, LA and a juvenile, received minor injuries and were transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center. They were properly restrained.
The crash remains under investigation. Routine toxicology tests are pending.
