Motorcyclist Killed In Vernon Parish Crash
Last night, a crash involving a motorcycle killed a man from DeRidder, LA.
Troopers responded to the crash around 11:15 pm, which occurred on Cooper Church Road near US Hwy 171 in Vernon Parish. The crash involved a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle, driven by Joshua W. Hester (W/M 31 yrs). The Suzuki was east bound on Cooper Church Road when Hester lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the motorcycle collided with a culvert.
Hester was wearing a helmet. He was ejected during the crash and was pronounced dead.
The crash remains under investigation. Routine toxicology tests are pending.
Troop E Troopers have investigated 64 fatal crashes for the year of 2009, resulting in 77 fatalities. Forty of the 53 fatal crashes (passenger vehicles only) have involved unrestrained motorists/occupants. It is unknown if the deceased was wearing a seatbelt in one crash. Six crashes have involved a motorcycle, three have involved a pedestrian, and two have involved an off road vehicle.
