Unrestrained Driver Killed in Crash, Alcohol Suspected Factor
PORT ALLEN – An unrestrained Port Allen man was killed last night in a single-vehicle crash on LA 986 east of LA 415 in West Baton Rouge Parish. Just after 2:30 a.m., Raymond L. Lacombe (W/M, age 45) of Port Allen was driving a 1995 Honda Civic west on LA 986 when he ran off the road to the right and entered the ditch. The vehicle rotated counterclockwise, struck an embankment of a private drive, and vaulted into the air. It overturned several times before coming to rest on its roof.
Lacombe was not wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred and sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased on the scene by the West Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office. Alcohol is suspected to have been a factor in the crash and Troopers have submitted a sample of Lacombe’s blood to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis.
