Wendell Coby Matthews, 25, of Chauvin, La. was booked into the Orleans Parish Jail with $5,000,000.00 bond and waits extradition back to Terrebonne Parish. These charges are a result of Houma Police Officers Kelly Champagne and Keith Besson attempting to stop a 1998 KIA sport, driven by Wendell Coby Matthews, 25, of Chauvin, on Bayouside Drive in Chauvin, La. During the traffic stop a foot pursuit between Officer Champagne and Matthews occurred. Officer Champagne returned fire and wounded Matthews.
