LaSalle Parish Fatal Crash
Early Saturday night, a crash involving two vehicles killed a woman from Olla and injured a teenager from Olla.
Troopers responded to the crash around 8:20 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 127 at LA Hwy 503 around the Summerville Community. The crash involved a 2006 GMC pickup, driven by Donna C. Brescher (W/F 32 yrs) of Olla, LA and a 2005 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Bobby J. McCartney (W/M 19 yrs) of Olla, LA. The GMC was north bound on LA Hwy 127 and the Chevrolet was south bound on LA Hwy 127 when Brescher crossed the centerline and collided with McCartney. After the collision, the GMC overturned and came to rest in the north bound lane on the driver’s side. The Chevrolet also overturned and came to rest in a ditch. The vehicle was on its roof with the cattle trailer it was towing on top of it.
Seatbelt use is unknown at this time for Brescher. She was pronounced dead.
McCartney received moderate injuries and was transported to Rapides General Medical Center.
The crash remains under investigation.
Troop E Troopers have investigated 40 fatal crashes for the year of 2009, resulting in 48 fatalities. Twenty-two of the 31 fatal crashes (passenger vehicles only) have involved unrestrained motorists/occupants. Two crashes have involved a motorcycle, three have involved a pedestrian, and two have involved an off road vehicle. Seatbelt use is unknown in two fatal crashes.
